This track proposes to extend standard information retrieval (IR) ad-hoc test
collection design to facilitate research on personalized and collaborative IR by
gathering additional meta-information during the topic (query) development process.
Via a controlled query generation process with activity logging for
each topic developer, the standard FIRE ad-hoc collections will enriched
with a new set of thematically related topics and the associated log information which led
to the developement of these topics.
The participants are encouraged to mine user information from the logs to improve IR performance.
The task aims at investigating
the research question of whether personalized and collaborative IR
retrieval experiments and evaluation can be pursued by enriching a standard adhoc
collection with such meta-information.
The figure below illustrates the schematic diagram of the data-flow for the proposed task.
For more details about the track proposal, prospective participants will find this FIRE PIR track white paper useful.
We will release the detailed guidelines for the participants soon.
